Last night I was very touched, as I’m sure the whole of Britain was, to see a programme about Susan Boyle and her astronomical rise to fame. Susan comes from a small town in Scotland and all she really ever wanted to do was sing.
But life got in the way, as it often does, and she never had an opportunity to really show people what enormous talent she possessed. But she never gave up her dream of becoming a professional singer.
Then one day in January 2009, she stepped onto the stage in Glasgow at a national talent show and her world changed forever… it was very moving to hear Susan say she had waited 23 years for that moment.
Sheer determination drove Susan to keep trying and fulfil her dream… and she made it in the end. In fact, she was awarded a Platinum disc for the fastest selling album.. ever!
It just goes to show if you are determined, absolutely determined, to do something – then you should never give up on your hopes, dreams and aspirations.
